GPUs suited for 3D CG creation

This list includes GPUs suited for 3D CG creation in tools such as Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, and Houdini. Requirements vary hugely with the kind and scale of work, so this assumes typical entry-to-intermediate modeling and viewport preview.

GeForce RTX 2060 is used as the minimum baseline model for 3D CG creation. Models with less than 4 GB of VRAM are excluded from this list regardless of score.

This evaluation assumes the system has a CPU, memory, and storage configuration that is sufficient for the task.

What to Check Beyond the Score

  • VRAM matters more as textures and scenes grow. When in doubt, pick the larger capacity.
  • For serious GPU rendering (Cycles, etc.), aim for a class above this baseline.
  • Renderers built on CUDA/OptiX (Blender Cycles, Octane) tend to support NVIDIA GPUs best.
